iPhone 4S to Woo Customers from 4G Droids, Says Analyst.

Apple will win customers away from 4G Android phones by offering the iPhone 4S at a lower cost but still managing to rake in hefty profit margins.

At least, that's the take of Deutsche Bank analyst Chris Whitmore. In an investors note released Sunday, Whitmore compared the prices of the iPhone 4S with those of several Droid phones. Though the monthly fees for each phone are comparable and depend on the carrier, the upfront cost for the new iPhone is lower, which Whitmore believes will lure in more customers. Read more...

Droid 2 Review

As a user of the Motorola Droid 2 for more than a year now, I have come to realize the device is more than just a phone. It is a computer, a navigation system, an mp3 player, a day planner, and a very useful business tool. The Droid 2 email security features make the integration of my work email seamless. You can read and email, download attachments, and respond in seconds via keyboard or swype with touch screen. The Qwerty keyboard aids in messaging with auto correction in spelling, punctuation, etc. It can be quite handy when you're on the go.

Another benefit I use most often is the browser. Though it doesn't meet the speed of a 4g device, I can utilize the search engine at an ideal speed and with voice activation. Viewing the web is optimal with the decent sized screen and zooming is just a double tap away.

The navigation system has not failed me as of yet and works especially well with a car dock. This prevents loss of battery life and makes it easier to navigate. Battery life for the Droid 2 is however minimal to say the least, but with any smart phone this is to be expected.

The Droid is filled with innovative applications and the operating system exceeds my business needs as well as social functionality.
